Abstract
Pulmonary distomiasis is caused by Paragonimus Westermani, also known as the lung fluke. This infestation is virtually limited to the Orient. In Korea it is endemic disease. This parasite specifically favors the lung as an optimal environment for its growth.
In its migratoin some helminths remain in the abdomen, while others follow dubious routes to the brain and other structures.
This case is 25 aged male, admitted to Busan Armed Forces General Hospital, department of surgery, on December 1980, with chief complaint of palpable mass in the left inguinal region. Impression was made as left indirect inguinal hernia and decided to repair for hernia. During operation instead of hernia sac, alarge granulomatous mass was seen on the left spermatic cord.
Postoperative specimen was confirmed pathologically to Paragonimus Westermani. Now, we report a case of involved Paragonimus Westermani on the spermatic cord with literature reviews.
